A\u00d1O: 2022<\/strong><\/p>

The Big Fire<\/strong>
We are transdisciplinary artists who got together for a collaborative experience to reflect upon the environmental destruction caused by soybean monocrop farming. Through the lens of art and in the spirit of healing, we created work and produced documentation of the thoughts, actions, art works and interviews during the investigation. We learned there are natural methods of planting without spraying toxic chemicals in the air, damaging the soil, the water, the animals and humans in the midst. We learned of the destruction caused by this form of cultivation mostly fueled by the greed for a greater crop yield at the encouragement of chemical companies. We spoke with the survivors of people that had died of exposure in the fields and saw with our eyes the remains of birds and bees caught in the toxic clouds of Glyphosate. These are videos and photographs of our surroundings during this experiment of healing. Images of the beauty that encircled us, the conversations we had with people of the area, performances of resistance and defiance, of healing and blessing, and the big fire in the kiln created with ancestral methods which turned the ancient clay recipe of our work into ceramic, transforming it; in the way we would hope, with this multiple video installation, to empower everyone to create meaningful change for the good of the planet. As a collective of women, we want to remind women everywhere that we have always been the traditional caretakers of the earth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
