CLAY & FIRE
Ceramic Workshop in the Heart of the World
We built a handcrafted kiln with local clay, turning it into a living altar. We shaped masks inspired by the animals of the Sierra Nevada—jaguars, birds, reptiles, monkeys… guardian beings emerging from the clay, summoned by our hands. Each piece was an offering, a silent conversation with the sacred biodiversity of the mountain. We lit the fire, placed the pieces inside, and held the heat with patience and community, sharing stories, music, and food as the temperature rose. The next day, when we opened the kiln, a miracle awaited us: all the pieces intact.
Clay & Fire was a collective ritual, a way to honor the earth, its creatures, and the transformative power of many hands working together.
